Poem by A.R. Salandy: Masses

                                         Masses

Weathered stones decorate the borderlands
Of mental doldrums coated in jagged glass
And feverish searching for finite validation,

Capital lavished on those that contort,
Those that bend at will,
A brutal submission

Where tarnished ethics
Disappear in hordes of seekers
Each within their own cerebral cage

Delicately hidden from the collective longing
Piercing through momentary discourse.

Impassioned monologues spewed
At cloaked beings illuminated
Only by constructions

That feed into a deluge
Of romanticised experiences
Futile, and fanciful.

For the living now long
For an ultimate journey
Unknown and unexpected,

Lost somewhere in grand darkness.

2 Poems from A.R. Salandy : Contact and Ascription

Contact

Rough Azul caresses disturbed edges
sanded by tides waning and waxing
under celestial companions
that dart across timings assured,

But vehement winds blind
foreign orbs from plain sight
until golden bolts are all that remain
over synchronised lights

That transmit a fraught existence
drowned in hypersensitivity
and feverish consumption,
But we are the chosen some say

Lost in orbit awaiting contact congenial.

Ascription

The consumption of the libertine
Cannot be rendered to antiquity
When overconsumption dictates
Worldly affairs overcome

By the intoxicating whims
Of romanticised elites,
Now bastions of mobility and gumption
Jaded facades attempting to conceal

Cyclical strife.
But one must question
The extent of achieved success
When ascription often informs power.

But I glide into the very heart
Of banal ignorance
Where bastions of arrogance
Cavort amongst the departed minds

That make collective disillusion possible,
Passive acceptance approved
By bliss blinding.

Poetry from A.R. Salandy : Malaise of the Suffering

from pixabay

Malaise of the Suffering

A lowly lamentation becomes cacophonous
When webs of crystalline frustration
Intersect and weave into crystal insanity,

For we the downtrodden find salvation
In a diminishing hope
Never bleak enough to subjugate faith,

A silent calling warped by the privileged few
Whose power is cemented by fallacies
Bloodened bullion that knows no age.

No, the malaise of the suffering
Is that which pervades
The core of all mundane homes

Where the living writhe grief stricken
And burdened by handmade levers
That dictate the jaded rules of subjugation;

The lies that prevent mobilisation,
An awakening of unity
Dormant.

New Poems from A.R. Salandy : Passive Manipulation & Waves Poem

Waves

The ground quivers under monumental waves
Out in the clashing abyss
Where vessels bob to the slow rock
Of waters unsuspecting,

But sirens usher weary souls
To awaken in that dark night
Where storm shields would do little
To protect them from rolling life
Taut and avenging,

For mother cries her battle cries out at sea
Until she reaches land
And caresses it with her wrath,
Angered but loving,
Still a tsunami-

Still a loss of life, becoming all too common

Passive Manipulation

Society indulges a capitalist mindset
By transforming humble minds
Into autocratic machines
That compute digital numbers

Into meaningful characters
That act as a hostile burden
To the minds of every new generation
That shackles debt and worth to each other,

As if life could so singularly be derived
From financial status
So aggressively acquired
At the hands of a merciless folk

Whose only wish is to derive power
From a greed so all-consuming
That those who wish to change or grow
Must face the constraints of a governance

That acts to destroy the human spirit
Drop by drop as the sound of beings
Now despondent grows quieter
And resistance grows futile

As society benefits from the loss of millions.

A Fevers of the Mind Quick-9 Interview with A.R. Salandy

2 poems by A.R. Salandy : Mom’s Cranberry Cake & Rage Poem

Mom’s Cranberry Cake

first published in Dwelling Lit 2020

Every winter I waited in anticipation
For the scent of rising cinnamon
To convert our little home
Into a fantastically warmed land-

Where cranberries would simmer
In the auburn pot where sugar bubbled
And berries twirled as they burst
So gently to the stove top fire

That summoned my mother to action,

But when the cranberries appeared soft
Only then would she prepare
The sumptuous cake for which we desired
All through hoary nights

That gave way to only more frigid dawns,

And as the baking commenced
Did my mother sit and marvel
At the creation only she could make,
As if a miracle of margarine-

My mother was the buttery buttress
That cushioned the shocks
That shook our resilience
Only to suppress her own,

Much like the growing cake
That now rested as it cooled
Just above that worn oven
That served as a reminder

For maternal sacrifice in domesticity.

Rage

‘Rage on’ cried cryptic skies
That howled a night terror’s lullaby
As waves beat mighty boats
And drowned out all humanity,

For lustrous skies were long gone
As salted air began to consume
Fading hearts deep in oceans vast,

But soon that cryptic abuse grew starlit
As waves ceased in their fight
And winds calmed as the long departed
Were rocked into gentle slumber

Deep in a world concealed and murky.
