I've began listening to Nicole Atkins music around 2017 or 2018. I was first introduced to her amazing album "Goodnight Rhonda Lee"
which I was drawn to her style of singing going from soulful to breathy and retro. I am a huge fan of music that sounds retro. And being i'm only 40 years old. I'm not sure if I fit in with my time. If you read my poetry you'll understand this. "Goodnight Rhonda Lee" had songs that were instant classics to me, such as "A Dream Without Pain" "A Little Crazy" "Colors" "Goodnight Rhonda Lee" & "A Night of Serious Drinking" being the ones that hit me the hardest. So, as any fan of indie musicians it always makes me feel out of the loop when I feel I discover something amazing. I soon find out that well they've had plenty of music already out. Which throws my A.D.D. brain for a-loop. Yes, i'm very excited to discover all these possible gems, but yet oh no I want to know it all at once, and be able to identify with the music immediately. Well, with Nicole's prior work that wasn't too hard. Going back to around 2006/2007 she has put out several albums. I recommend purchasing a copy of Neptune City, Mondo Amore, Slow Phaser, the aforementioned "Goodnight Rhonda Lee" and this past year she put out "Italian Ice" a more soulful style album which she collaborated with several artists for "Single Lock Records" Songs like Mind Eraser, Domino, & AM Gold are constantly on my list of her newer go-to songs. Nicole has also quite a collection of wonderful cover songs such as "The Crystal Ship" by the Doors, "Vitamin C" by Can, "The Seventh Seal" by Scott Walker, a must listen version of "Dancing in the Dark" by Bruce Springsteen from the Dead Man's Town tribute to Springsteen album. Check out her whole catalog. Some other highly recommended songs by me include "War Torn" "Hotel Plaster" "Neptune City", "Cry Cry Cry" give Nicole a listen and check out her website at www.Nicoleatkins.com and Youtube page https://www.youtube.com/user/nicoleatkins
