As a child, all she ever wanted was to travel around the world
but as she gets older, she realizes that wishes weren't actually horses
so she settled for the only place she could go without actually travel- Utopia
Everything was perfect there, she was happy and fear was something she conquered over there
but after each trip out of Utopia,
it becomes sadder and scarier for her
because she knows that just Alice in wonderland, she always have to return to the real world.
When she was just a child, she expected the world to be perfect just as she imagined it.
As she gets older, she doesn't know what she wants me what's she stands for anymore; and this scares her.
Embarrassed by her fears, she made defensive scarecrows that scared away the things and people she loved.
As she gets older, life sat her down and made her realize that life was way beyond the borders of Utopia
Now, she knows she has to face her fears before it burns her out,
she has a lot to do! Yet only so many hours in a day.
She now understands that life is cruel
and that things mostly don't go as we imagined
but one still has to live in the real world and not Utopia.
Ever wondered why we get sad and more scared when we get older?
Bio: Anthony Agbo, a law student at the Benue state University, Nigeria. A poetry & script writer.
These days, when i stare at the mirror, all I see;
is a boy squirming with a bag filled with insecurities.
A bag too heavy for him to carry. A boy tired of his ineptitude to handle life.
A boy who's head is filled with intrusive thoughts.
A boy who feels he knows pain, and is glued to her just like a hunch is to the back of -a man.
I stared at his face closely and saw that
there's this grief that wreathes around his heart; killing him at a reasonable pace
Just like the butcher who drains the blood of a cow after slitting its throat,
that's how pain and grief has drained him of all the joy he had inside.
Now where was once a room filled with laughter and cheers,
stands loneliness and anxiety.
This boy seeks answers to all his misfortunes
but if we have the answer to everything,
there would be no more 'IFs'
And no more zeal to continue living.
I guess life itself is senseless
hence all these futile ugly efforts we make,
Makes it beautiful.
New Poem: Love by Anthony AgboPoem by Anthony Agbo: A Tale of Two Different Cities
Due to 'I love you'
Little sorrow sat and wept
From the cradle to the grave
For a man who never cared.
Just like the plants in his house,
who silently begged to be watered,
That was how she begged for his love
yet his emotion towards her
was as cold as ice.
His anger was like a tempest,
At the slight provocation,
He unleashed his rage upon her.
And after every beating, prince charming
always promised to change
But no matter how a chameleon changes,
it'll always remain the same.
Just like the child of cobbler has no shoe,
That was how her lover had no love for her
Yet she hoped... and died.
Poetry: “Reflection” by Anthony AgboWolfpack Contributor: Anthony AgboNew Poem: Love by Anthony Agbo2 Poems by Anthony Agbo : Love and Lust & My Muse
Due to his love for the beach, he visits her every day.
He plays with her
and decorates her with beautiful sandcastles
each time he visits.
One day, the sea saw him from afar
and she fell in love with him.
She whispered his name but he did not answer,
So she took a stroll to the beach to woo him.
She came to him in a smooth golden cloak,
She mixed words like a witch who whips out spells
and her magical words enchanted him.
And like the walls of jericho,
He FELL for her.
"Come with me and i will show you more of me" said the sea.
When he was about leaving,
The beach held his hands
and begged him not to leave her.
But the sea was beautiful than the beach
She was filled with beautiful treasures
While the beach was filled with just sand
So he chose the sea over the beach.
(His LUST for the sea overpowered his LOVE for the beach)
He followed the sea to her house,
They played till the night came.
When it was time for him to go home,
The sea refused to let him go
Her love for him turned into obsession
And now, she wants him all to herself
so she drowned him.
Now in silence,
She lingers beside him all night wishing
she had never wooed him.
After many days,
She got tired of his lifeless body.
She realized all she had for him
was infatuation and not true love
So she threw his body to the beach.
When the beach recieved his body,
Colors of dark grey and black filled her heart,
No other feeling could possibly be worst than this.
Where was once a room filled with laughter and cheer,
Now stands loneliness, emptiness and despair
'cause a boy chose lust over love.
If I were to count every poem I wrote about you,
I wonder how many they would be.
Everynight, I try to write something new about you
but my pen and heart fails me
for my Muse has broken my heart into a piece;
a piece with no meaning.
For you were the dictions
that gave meanings to my poems
You were the A-Z of my life
And now without you, my words are meaningless.
Can one ever spell without alphabet?
These days all I do is;
Wear a mask of fake smiles
With steady pretentious actions
Just to feign your presence
Just to conceal the pain your absence inflicts
You meant a lot to me!
