Poetry: Joelle by Jonathan S Baker

Joelle

She felt whole and
complete
in a way never felt
before
but he began to think
about all the things
he would have to
release
all those things he feels
he needs
but still she felt whole
and complete.

She felt unsustainable
she heard his voice
frightened and
shameful
he warned her that
happiness
is unattainable.
And it nearly broke her.
But she isn't giving up,
going away, rolling over,
stepping out, or
getting run down
She will again be
whole and complete.
