a window display

adorned torsos
gyrate to music
of eastern origin

truncated bodies
no voice of their own

as people rush
along the sidewalk

on a busy Broadway street

though beckoned by the fog
we’re immovable — anchored —
encrusted with yesterday’s news
gazing time to come
