2 Poems from Anne Paulet (Scripta 21) in Fevers of the Mind Anthologies

Close of Distance

And there, suddenly, I say myself
Let's dance with the stars.

There's always a new firmament

The odyssey can be beautiful
if the journey is deep and charmant.

I also say that my body is falling apart
but only one drop quenches it thirst
It and that much better than before.

As long as my eyes remain opened
there allow me to cross the moment.
And all this turns into renewal.

Crazy and king, both my captain
Crazy and wise both have the same time.

Kings of pain and fools of the world
is there still time to loving you?

I don't know if I'll be patient
And that's all I know,
I'll sing it to you!

I Come From Somewhere

I come from somewhere that you don't know. Places where goes no one. Where few go. Sometimes they are. The path is not narrow, but the spirit is fleeting, relentless, sometimes destroyed to make another, good or evil, I come. Is it a lot to say? I come from a country where the trays are cups, and the cups are wells. I come to you to tell you that I don't know what I did with all this. They are precise and full cutouts. They have a thousand trips and destinies. They're not imaginary. They've never been this. They swarm in my veins even when I have renewed it with blood, impoverished, enriched, fluidified and strewn through the arms you now close. There was no landscape that I could recognize. The colors were a soul. Out everything was gray. Clear, dark, black and then suddenly, I turned its pages. This cannot make a book but its ashes yes. A real feast. An illustration isn't enough to describe the unpronounceable. The highest frills in brains cannot specify the acuteness of this gift where coming back unexpectedly holds me back. Because I haven't yet described it with my precision. It is a way to go down, up again, where I can never stop... Its stars and firmament assail me.
